Yellowknife is warmer

By markus at 11:12 on June 9, 2008 | No comments |

I didn’t mean to post another weather related rant, but this fact deserves mentioning. Yellowknife in the North West Territories (Canada’s “Great White North”) is actually warmer and sunnier than Vancouver, BC.

Easter Weekend

By markus at 20:15 on April 5, 2007 | No comments |

Yay! Easter Weekend! :-) Looking forward to a long weekend, even though it’s a day shorter than my schveetie’s. (She gets Monday off, too.)

Looks like it’s going to be nice and warm out as well. I am hoping we’ll find time for a nice walk, maybe at some lake or something. Then there’s some work at home that needs to be done. Filing a pile of papers, doing up taxes, hanging up curtains. Yep, it’s really time to do that. Well, actually, it’s way past time, but we haven’t done it yet.

Finally I’ll have to help my dad doing his first steps on the Internet — as much as it is possible being some 8500km away. He’s just starting to find his way around, but he’s doing pretty well.

Early Morning

By markus at 07:35 on February 19, 2007 | No comments |

Brigette had to be downtown at 7:30am this morning, which meant getting up early — early as in the alarm goes off at 5:30am. :-)

Since I wasn’t going to be able to sleep through this anyways, I figured I may as was well get up myself. Wouldn’t hurt me one little bit to get my butt out of bed before 7am for once.

So here I am, at my desk at work and it’s not even 7:45am yet. And I’m feeling good, less tired than some of the other days when I got here more than an hour later.

At Work

By markus at 13:17 on February 17, 2007 | No comments |

Well, of sorts. ;-) I’m not at my work, I accompanied Brigette to hers. I wanted to take the opportunity to see the offices. Biotech companies are cool.

Brigette decided to go in today, on Saturday, to clean up her office that is drowning in boxes and un-filed papers. I had heard about it on several occasions, now I wanted to see that in person, too. Her office will be re-organized pretty soon (new or at least different furniture, etc.), so the boxes and papers have to go, and they have to go now.

So now I’m here, typing up this blog entry on Brigette’s workstation and creating an inventory list of the boxes for her on the side.

Busy Times

By markus at 08:48 on December 5, 2006 | 5 Comments |

The honeymoon is coming closer and closer and that’s very good news. I think we’re both ready for some vacation — and very special vacation at that. :-)

The remaining days till we leave, though, seem to be quite full. One could say won’t be getting bored.

  • Brigette has to finish her remaining assignments for class.
  • We have to get rid of our wicker set by Thursday.
  • We have to make our place look presentable for the Xmas Party on Saturday.
  • We still have some work do do on the condo (curtains!).
  • Brigette’s going to pick up our travel documents this week.
  • We have to do some general organizatorial things in regards to the trip.

I’m sure there’s more that I’m not thinking of right now.

Gloomy Sunday

By markus at 16:29 on November 12, 2006 | No comments |

It’s a very dark and rainy Sunday today. Typical Vancouver November weather. The perfect day to snuggle up in bed, read a good book and maybe have a cup of tea or hot chocolate.

Yesterday was nicer, there was actually some sun in the morning. Brigette and I took the opportunity and went to Trout Lake to check it out. It’s a doggy paradise. Many cute little (and big) puppies. It was a little chilly, though.

Afterwards we went strolling down Granville street and finally watched Shut Up & Sing, which is a really good show. It’s also scary. It shows how people can get so bent out of shape by a (fairly harmless) comment that they call for the Dixie Chicks to be tried for treason (never did they actually say they weren’t supporting the troups, btw) or, much, much worse, send them death threats.

Lazy Weekend

By markus at 22:21 on October 29, 2006 | No comments |

Brigette’s mom came to visit, primarily to take a wicker table with two chairs with her (we don’t have the room to keep them). We all just went to the mall yesterday, later we used our new pots to cook and our new Denby dishes to eat dinner.

This morning we finally tried loading table and chairs in the car — only to discover that the table won’t fit, no matter what we tried. Brigette and I, both, had doubts the set would fit in her car. However, Brigette’s mom wouldn’t listen and insisted that she had moved the set in her car before. So, now we still have the wicker set that we were so looking forward to getting rid of. :-( Anybody interested in taking it? Nope, we don’t have a vehicle it would fit in, so we can’t “deliver”.

Wicker Set

Wicker Set

The rest of my day was better, pretty lazy and relaxed (Brigette ended up being pretty busy with school work). Some reading, some geeking out at the computer, a walkie exploring the neighbourhood and a short trip to Oakridge mall. All in all not bad.
